OiC includes people from a wide range of Christian denominations or church backgrounds and nationalities. The cultural, ethnic and denominational differences are positive resources that enrich our community. Our Church services are held in English, but we have both Norwegian and English speaking growth groups which meet weekly.

There will be no church service today at the Bakkehaugen Church as the service will take place during the OiC Summer Camp.
Today we have a joint service with the other Bakkehaugen Church at 11:00 with a potluck following the service. So please come for the service and bring a food dish to share. There will be no service at 16:00.
Gratulerer med dagen! Remember we are having a potluck BBQ at Bakkehaugen tomorrow starting at 16. Bring food to share and a picnic blanket, it's sure to be a fun time. We hope to see you there!
Please join us for a BBQ at Bakkehaugen Church at 16.00 on the 17th of May. We will provide the grill, you provide the food. It's potluck style, so bring something to share. Some ideas are meat or veggies to grill, salad, fruit or dessert.

Important news about the service this Sunday! This Sunday, December 9th, there will be a morning service at 11:00 am and no afternoon service. The morning service will include a baptism and then we will celebrate afterwards with a potluck lunch. Please bring a simple lunch dish or a cake to share. We will meet at our normal location at Bakkehaugen church. Hope to see you there!

Today is #GivingTuesday! This year NMS, OiC's parent organisation, is using today's funds to support an after-school club in Thailand that feeds, supports and encourages children: "Letting Children be Children". You can donate 200 kr simply by texting "barndom" to 2490. It's that simple.
Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. It's a chance to use your money for something bigger than yourself. This yeas NMS, the organization OiC is under, is using the money raised from the event to fund an after school club in Thailand that feeds, supports and encourages children: "Letting Children be Children". They say summer is the time to stop. Stop school. Stop work. Stop frowning and worrying about all the sort of things that make us loose our sleep or our smile. Stop and enjoy life. But that’s just it. Here lies the paradox and here lies the trouble. That life never goes without it. Trouble. We know not life without sorrow, pain, grief, frailty and confusion. These are as inherent to this life as joy, laughter, wonder and pleasure. Tears may erupt from both anguish and delight as they roll down the sun baked cheeks of our human skin. It tans and it burns, and our attempts at controlling it are no more than that. Yet when the psalmist sings he stops. Not to evade life but to engage it with a creative struggle and a worshiping brawl. While we try to stop life, God gives it. Those of us with open arms grasp it in a tight embrace. In the strength of that love the God given life merges into this cracked skin one, seeping into the very fissures that broke it. We stop with the psalmist. We sing with the Psalm. We’re not stopping life, but ourselves before God. Our tears, be them of joy or sorrow, are not hidden. They are presented to him that they may be bathed by his Living Water. This summer we stop with the psalmist and spend time with the psalms. We don’t set life aside but welcome God in. Into all of it. Pr. Maicon Steuernagel
This upcoming Sunday May 27th, we have a combined outdoor service with our brothers and sisters from Bakkehaugen church. This means that we only have a morning service at 11h and no afternoon service. The location will be the same as usual - Bakkehaugen church. Pending good weather, we will meet on the lawn in front of the church. Please bring something to sit on, like a blanket or "sitteunderlag." If the weather is bad, the service will move inside. After the service we will all have a barbecue together, so please bring something to grill and share. See you on Sunday!
TOMORROW TUESDAY APRIL 24th you can join a norwegian tradition: DUGNAD. Its a bunch of volunteers that come together to achieve a mission. The goal this time is to make Bakkehaugen Church and the surrounding areas where we meet clean and tidy and ready for summer! So if you want to trim bushes, sweep the outside pavement or clean up a cupboard: Come join the party from 5pm-9pm

We struggle to go both deep and wide. But it seems the Gospel is more like the ocean than like a well. If we dare to go out to the open sea we will find there’s much deeper waters far away from the shores of our comfort. It’s scarier and riskier, for sure. But it’s deeper and richer.
